Why You Don’t Need to Set Up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC When Using Your SMTP Login in Reluxity CRM
Overview
When sending emails through Reluxity CRM using your own SMTP login and server, you do not need to set up SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records specifically for Reluxity CRM. This guide explains why and what that means for your email deliverability and security.
What are SPF, DKIM, and DMARC?
-
SPF (Sender Policy Framework): A DNS record that specifies which mail servers are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain.
-
DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail): Adds a digital signature to emails, allowing the recipient to verify the message was not altered and was actually sent by your domain.
-
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance): Builds on SPF and DKIM to help protect your domain from email spoofing and phishing.
How Does Reluxity CRM Send Emails?
Reluxity CRM offers two ways to send emails:
1. Using Your Own SMTP Login
-
Reluxity CRM connects to your SMTP server using your login credentials.
-
Emails are sent directly through your mail server.
-
Your domain appears in the “From” address.
-
Your existing SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings apply.
2. Using Reluxity’s SMTP Server (mail@reluxity.com)
-
If you do not use your own SMTP, Reluxity sends emails from our mail servers using the address
mail@reluxity.com. -
The “From” address will not be your domain but
mail@reluxity.com. -
Your email address will be set as the Reply-To address, so replies go to you.
-
However, because the “From” address is different from your domain, this can increase the chances your email ends up in the spam or promotions folder.
Why You Don’t Need to Set Up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for Reluxity CRM When Using Your SMTP
When you send emails through your own SMTP server, the responsibility for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC lies with your email provider. Reluxity CRM simply acts as a messenger using your mail server credentials.
When SPF, DKIM, and DMARC Matter More
-
If sending through Reluxity’s SMTP servers, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC policies related to your domain do not apply because the email is not sent from your domain.
-
Instead, emails will authenticate as coming from
reluxity.com, not your domain. -
This can reduce deliverability and brand consistency.
