How to Use Google Search Console API

Before you begin, ensure you’ve created a Google Console project. More information is available in the official documentation.

Activate the Google Search Console API from Google Cloud Console

  1. Sign in to Google Cloud Console.
  2. Using the main navigation menu (click the hamburger icon), navigate to APIs & Services, then Library.
  3. Search for Google Search Console API, click on it from the search results, and enable it.

Create Your Service Account

If you have already set up a service account for the Google Indexing API, there’s nothing more to do. Reluxity will automatically use the same service account linked to SEO settings.

If you haven’t set up a service account, please follow the provided guide.

Inspect Your URL with Google from the Page Builder

  1. Edit a piece of content (it must already be published and crawled by Google to gather details from Search Console).
  2. Go to the Content Analysis feature, then the Inspect URL tab, and run the audit. Wait a few seconds to receive the report.

Get Insights with Search Console

To retrieve clicks, positions, CTR, and impressions from your post/page/post type list, navigate to SEO, then PRO, and select the Google Search Console tab. Click the Get Insights from Google Search Console button.

Once the process is complete, activate the new columns by going to SEO, then Advanced, and checking the “Show search console data” option. Save changes.

From your content list, use the Screen options button to show or hide specific columns.

Click on a column, such as “Clicks,” to sort your content in ascending or descending order.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you encounter the error: “403: You do not own this site, or the inspected URL is not part of this property,” it means the domain name set in WordPress General settings (home URL field) does not match the one in Google Search Console.

Trailing slashes are crucial: https://example.com is not the same as https://example.com/.

If your domain name is a domain property in Google Search Console and they are not identical, please use these two filters to adjust this behavior for both Inspect URL and Search Console metrics: reluxity_inspect_url_home_url & reluxity_search_console_base_url.

If you are using a domain property in Google Search Console, you can check the option “Yes, I’m using a domain property to add my site in Google Search Console” .
